A Giant Dog
A Giant Dog
Toy, the fourth LP from A Giant Dog and their second for Merge, captures the Austin quintet at the height of their powers. A solid year of road-dogging and woodshedding has made the band tighter than ever, the charging dynamo of Andrew Cashen and Andy Bauer’s guitars in lockstep with the primal chug of the rhythm section, Graham Low on bass and Daniel Blanchard on drums, in the latter’s recorded debut. Singer Sabrina Ellis turns in another masterful performance, in equal parts brash, defiant, vulnerable, and raw.

“I was absolutely blown away by A Giant Dog.” —NPR

“…completely lovable and undeniable with their big riffs, megaton hooks and energetic showmanship.” —Chicago Tribune

“Stooges-gone-new-wave melodic punk songs” —Minneapolis StarTribune

“Austin was made for high-octane, no-frills rock n’ roll, and A Giant Dog was clearly made for Austin.” —NME

“…live shows, marked by Ellis’ Freddie Mercury-channeling, bombastic brilliance, have attracted fervent followers from around the world.” —Austin American-Statesman

“A Giant Dog has been at it for 8+ years and will surely take over the world soon.” —The Bay Bridged

“Austin punk darlings” —The Daily Beast

“Sabrina Ellis thrashed and wailed alongside some of the tightest musicianship that I’ve seen in a live punk rock performance. Guitarists Andrew Cashen and Andy Bauer layer glam T. Rex riffs into a ferocious swirl, that never stops moving.” —Nashville Scene
Creature Canyon
Formed in the latter half of 2015, Creature Canyon consists of singer-songwriter Austin Steele, guitarist Ryan Amyot, bassist Elliot Ramsey, and drummer Kyle Victoria. They can be described as a high energy 4 piece with melodic guitar riffs, vivid bass lines, boisterous rhythms, and in-your-face vocals. Their debut full length album "Life I Know,” released in May of 2016, was recorded at Studio West, Pacific Beat, and Steele Studios. Most of the album was recorded at Studio West in a ten hour marathon session with the help of recording engineer Bryan Zullo. Recording all in the same room together allowed the band to capture the electrifying old school approach to modern recording.

The band's debut single “Life I Know” was mixed and mastered by Grammy award winning engineer and producer Alan Sanderson. In the Summer of 2016 Creature Canyon teamed up with director and friend Mitchell Harris to create the "Life I Know" music video. The video was released in September 2016 and premiered on the esteemed west coast music blog, Free Bike Valet. Creature Canyon is currently at work in the studio writing and recording their forthcoming EP.
